In support of the Bayanihan to Heal as One efforts of the government, Carmen Copper Corporation joins the fight against COVID-19 by sending aid to host city Toledo to boost the local government’s capacity to combat the spread of the virus.

Carmen Copper’s recent contribution was the donation of 50 gallons of ethyl alcohol for use of Toledo City frontliners who tirelessly guard the city round the clock under community quarantine.

Earlier, the company donated 2,685 pieces of canned goods to augment relief efforts and more than 400 face shields for the city's frontline responders.

Last April, Carmen Copper also donated five IBC containers to be used at PNP checkpoints stationed in the different borders of the city. About 5,000 washable face masks were also distributed to frontliners in all 38 Toledo City barangays.

“We are very grateful to Carmen Copper for its support. Together, we will beat COVID-19,” said Toledo City Mayor Marjorie Perales.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau has released a Memorandum dated April 1, 2020 allowing mining companies to realign Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) budget to support impact and non-impact communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Carmen Copper has dedicated a portion of its Social Development and Management Program to fund COVID-19 response efforts. To date, it has distributed relief aid to more than 9,000 families in its 17 host and neighboring barangays including non-impact barangays in Toledo City.

More families shall also benefit from the second wave of relief efforts in the host and neighboring communities.

Last June 4, around 337 habal-habal (motorcycles-for-hire) drivers from Barangay Don Andres Soriano (formerly Lutopan) received food packs including rice and other food items to help them get by in this time of community quarantine when back-riding on motorcycles remains prohibited in the Province of Cebu and the entire country. About 425 families also received the second wave of assistance at Barangay Loay, 100 families in Barangay Cantabaco and 100 families in Barangay General Climaco.
