Medical Mission serves hundreds of indigents in Barangay Biga

26 October 2013

Almost 800 indigent residents of Barangay Biga in Toledo City have availed of the free medical and dental services conducted by Carmen Copper Corporation last October 26 at the Barangay Biga Elementary School.

Dedicated to saving and making lives better for the less fortunate people in Toledo City, Carmen Copper, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Atlas Mining, organized this yearly medical and dental mission that focuses on remote communities having limited access to basic healthcare. The activity was in line with the company's Social Development and Management Program.

Services rendered range from medical and pediatric consultations to dental check-up, tooth extraction and eye examination. The recipients also received prescription medicines and eyeglasses for free.

The activity was carried out by the CCC Medical and Community Relations departments in coordination with the Biga barangay officials and teachers of Biga Elementary School. Volunteer doctors and dentists from Cebu City Medical Center and Sacred Heart Hospital also assisted Carmen Copper's doctors and nurses in servicing the medical needs of the recipients.

Carmen Copper has been assisting its host and neighboring communities in Toledo City with medical, dental and other health services since the resumption of its operations in 2008. To date, thousands of beneficiaries have availed of these charitable and similar social outreach programs of the company.
