Carmen Copper now ISO Certified

Carmen Copper Corp. has been successfully certified for its Integrated Management System covering International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001:2004 for environmental management and OHSAS 18001:2007 for occupational health and safety management.
This certification is also in compliance with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Administrative Order No. 2015-07 mandating large-scale mining companies to secure ISO 14001 certification.
“This certification is a confirmation of our outstanding environmental protection and work safety performance, the hallmark of our responsible mining operations in Toledo City” said Carmen Copper president Enrico Nera.
Nera also urged its employees to intensify its environmental protection initiatives and work safety culture. “This accreditation is only the beginning and not an end to our pursuit for excellence as it is more challenging to uphold our standards than obtain the IMS certificate,” Nera added.
The company’s IMS has passed audit standards and was certified by third party auditor SGS Philippines, the local affiliate of the global Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) Group of Companies based in Geneva, Switzerland.
The auditors have assessed and certified Carmen Copper to have complied the requirements for ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 for its mining, ore processing, tailing disposal, shipping and other ancillary activities.
Carmen Copper, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Atlas Mining, has consistently reaped DENR’s Best Mining Forest award, metallic category, for five years in a row since 2010. Recently, the Company was conferred with DENR’s Gawad Tugas award for its various environmental efforts including the rehabilitation of more than 375 hectares of mining impact areas, identification of tree species suited for rehabilitation of mining dumped areas, donation of 217,077 seedlings to the community and generation of local employment opportunities.
